Business Development at Wintermute

We are currently seeking a Business Development & Partnerships Director for Asia to drive our ambitious regional expansion. This role requires in-depth knowledge of the Asian financial services markets from both traditional finance and digital assets perspectives. You will be tasked with building new relationships and growing Wintermute’s existing businesses in Asia.

You will manage opportunities in the region from start to finish and develop your own strategic growth plan, while also receiving advice and guidance from the team. We offer the best liquidity products in the market, collaborate with many prominent blockchain projects, have numerous strategic growth opportunities, and a long line of counterparties eager to partner with us. We operate without legacy processes, corporate bureaucracy, or multiple levels of approval, yet maintain the highest standards of professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Expand Institutional OTC Business in Asia: Develop and execute a growth plan targeting Asia banks, asset managers, and funds.
  • Product Development Collaboration: Work closely with other teams to bring new products to market, including collecting customer feedback, testing products, and creating launch plans.
  • Build Crypto Project Liquidity Provision Business: Deepen and establish relationships with high-profile projects in the region, local VCs, and other key ecosystem players.
  • Foster Partner Relationships: Develop partnerships with key exchanges, custodians, lenders, and other infrastructure providers.
  • Drive Brand Awareness: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive brand awareness in key Asian markets (Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, Australia).
  • Execute Structured BD Process: Implement a structured business development process and enhance operational efficiency with the team (e.g., CRM, campaign effectiveness).
  • Monitor Crypto Industry Developments: Stay updated on key launches and news in the crypto ecosystem to proactively identify new business development opportunities.

Hard Skills Requirements

  • Experience: Proven experience in both traditional financial and digital assets services from high-performing institutions.
  • FICC Sales: 3+ years of experience in FICC sales (voice or electronic) working with institutional clients.
  • eCommerce Experience: Beneficial but not mandatory.
  • OTC Products: Expertise with spot and derivatives OTC products, especially options.
  • Business Development: Experience in business development, partnerships, or client-facing roles within financial services.
  • Track Record: Demonstrated ability to deliver business results; be prepared to discuss achievements and quotas.
  • Regional Knowledge: Experience in several important Asian markets; a deep understanding of both Asian and Western business practices.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Capability to educate counterparties about our services convincingly and concisely.
  • Trading/Crypto Knowledge: Valuable but not required; a willingness to learn fundamental blockchain technologies, algorithmic trading, and liquidity provision is crucial.
  • Language: Professional-level Mandarin or another major Asian language is advantageous.
  • Education: BSc/MSc in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
